
Performing Rights:
This page contains details of how to obtain the performing rights for one or more of the plays listed on this website.
- Please email Paul Burton to request a perusal script for the play/s you are interested in staging. You will then be emailed a Script Request Form.
- Once you have completed and returned this form to Paul Burton by email, you will then be emailed the perusal script/s of your choice. Please note: Scripts will only be emailed to individuals and drama groups etc. who are seriously considering staging one of Paul Burton's plays listed on this website.
- If you decide you wish to stage one or more performances of the play/s of your choice, then you will then need to request a Performing Rights - Application Form from Paul Burton by email prior to the commencement of rehearsals. Please note: it is an infringement of the copyright to give any performances or readings of the plays listed on this website before a fee has been paid and a license granted.
- You will then to print off, complete and return the Performing Rights - Application Form to Paul Burton by post together with a cheque for the total number of performances you wish to stage. Please note: the performing rights for each play is currently just £20.00 per performance for venues which have a capacity of up to 600 seats; and just £30.00 per performance for venues which have a capacity of up to 1000 seats.
- Once the Performing Rights - Application Form and a cheque has been received by Paul Burton, a Performing Rights License/s and a receipt will then be sent to you by post.
Other Information:
- It must be made clear on all publicity material (posters and leaflets etc.) that audiences will be witnessing a performance staged by amateurs. Please note: performing rights for Paul Burton's plays are also available to professional groups and companies.
- Paul Burton's name must appear on all publicity material for the play/s you are staging (including the programme). Please note: a detailed biography of Paul Burton is available on request for use in your programme.
- No alterations, additions or deletions must be made to the script/s of the play/s that you stage without the prior permission of Paul Burton.
- A performing rights license grants you permission to print off as many copies of the scripts as required for staging your production. However, it does not grant you permission to publish or sell the scripts. You may retain hard copies of the scripts after your production has been staged. However, any future productions will require additional applications for a Performing Rights License prior to the commencement of rehearsals.
- If you wish to video any performance/s of the play/s, then please ensure you fill in the appropriate section on the Performing Rights - Application Form. An additional fee of just £5.00 per performance is charged to individuals, companies or groups who wish to video their production. Please note: permission to film one or more performances of your production/s is granted on condition that no copies of the video are sold on any format or uploaded to any internet sites (e.g. YouTube).
- Permission is automatically granted with the Performing Rights License for representatives of the group or company staging one or more performances to take as many photographs as they wish of their production.
- Details of your production will automatically be added to this website and Paul Burton's main website once a Performing Rights License has been granted and sent to you.
- Paul Burton is more than happy to add any photographs from your production/s of his plays to this website prior to or after your productions dates.
